The Joy of Eid and an Enduring Virtue: The Impact of Donating to Orphans During Eid al-Adha

The blessed days of Eid al-Adha dawn filled with affection and joy, embodying the highest meanings of social and human solidarity. During these blessed days, the greatness of supporting the most vulnerable becomes deeply apparent—chief among them the orphans who have lost their support and care. Your charity and kindness during Eid serve as a healing balm for their sorrow and bring smiles back to their faces.

Allah Almighty says:

“And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [saying], ‘We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.'” (Surah Al-Insan: 8-9)

Why Does Donating to Orphans Hold Special Importance During Eid al-Adha?

  • Bringing Joy to Their Hearts: Eid is a time of celebration for children. Providing Eid clothes, Udhiyah (Qurbani), or financial support ensures orphans do not feel loss or isolation among their peers.

  • Expressing Gratitude and Reviving the Sunnah of Udhiyah: Sharing sacrificial meat and charity with orphans’ families serves as a practical expression of gratitude to Allah and embodies the true essence of Eid al-Adha—sacrifice and giving.

  • Blessing in Wealth and Life: Charity given during virtuous times never decreases wealth; instead, it brings blessings and wards off afflictions.

In Conclusion… Be the Joy in Their Eid

Bringing a smile to an orphan child’s face on Eid day does not require much, yet its reward with Allah and its impact on that child are priceless. Secure a share of this goodness for yourself and your family, and let your sacrifice and donation be a bridge of love and hope extending to the hearts of orphans.

Feeding Fasting People on the Day of Arafah
In the Day of Arafah, the reward for feeding fasting people is multiplied. The Day of Arafah is a day of mercy and blessings, a day when sins are forgiven and prayers are answered. And because “the most beloved deeds to God are those that bring joy to the heart of a Muslim,” may God accept from everyone who contributed to providing iftar for fasting people on this blessed day.
